Hello from Accra! I've been in Ghana since August 4th, and my time here has been pretty great so far. Peter and Radhika (my PCV friend who's traveling with us) I spent a few days just playing in the ocean and increasing my protein and vitamin intake by eating well. Then we visited Cape Coast, the home of one of the oldest slave clastles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Coast_Castle). Visiting the castle was a very sobering experience, and well worth the visit. Make sure to leave yourself a lot of time there though; we kind of had to rush in order to catch transport, which did not leave a ton of time to sit and reflect.
Accra is an experience. Definitely different than Ouagadougou. Every single road is paved, there are tall and modern buildings, street vendors sell chocolate, everything is incredibly loud, the food is expensive (but great), everyone speaks English, etc. The transport system around Accra is very efficient, consisting of mini-vans (dubbed tro-tros) that take you to various neighborhoods in the city.
My time on the internet has run out, but be sure to look at the photos I've added from my girls' camp and from my last month or so in village. Hope all is well. Next stop: Togo.
